I'd passed it up before but doubt anyone else really ever saw it above the door inside of an antique mall I frequent.
It has a female Cupid in a tropical night scene, was well made, and appears to have some fair age. I'm guessing it's a transferware?
But what is it, and when is it from? Pattern name? Maker/Location?
beautiful!!!!! love the art work in this!!
Thanks, Sean.
It's wonderful.
Thank you, Racer4Four.
Some people think it Dutch. All I've gotten so far.
Help??
I missed this thread when you first posted it, was led here now through the link you posted on the thread with a similar piece. To repeat what I posted there, looks to me like contemporary Chinese. The Jingfa clouds, the flowers, the blue&white, the crazing go that direction, and then there's the other elements thrown in there for what reason, I can only guess. Just my uninformed and inexpert opinion, others may have something more useful to add.
So you also think it's modern?
Yes, but I'm no expert. If you can get Czechglass to take a look, she's the expert in Asian wares.
It's been something I've wondered about-- if it is indeed fairly modern. Thank you, Katherine.
