Chinese peach decorated rice bowl and matching lid with six character Mark. I believe the item to be 19c but could be wrong as I can't seem to match the marks, its a lovely bowl and lid with enamel added to the bowl to make the peaches raised all HP. Is this is as old as I think as I always question myself or am I completely wrong, please can you give me any info on the bowl and lid. It definately has some age and size 4.5" X 4"
Those marks are Wanli 1573-1620. As to them being genuine only an expert in the area can tell.
To tell you the truth I thought that myself but I don't believe it to be of that age, but you never know. That was the closet mark I could get but as you know how many are made and are Just copies. I will get it checked though as it is made to a very good standard and a quality thing. I can only hope and thanks for your time, I will let you know how I get on in a couple of months or so. I am going to put it in a decent auction and see what they say. Thanks again you have been a star and helped me lots since I joined, I will show some more items tomorrow as I have been horse racing at sandown today.
i asked the experts , to say its too dicey to date the stakes are too high
this is what happened probably , a type of nabeshima so it is japanese and the faked with a wanli mark
