    Hi, I would love to know more about this steamer trunk I just bought at a grage sale $5 I would love to know more about this trunk like when it was possibly made and is it rare to find in embossed metal alligator tin I believe this to be a full-size it measures about 34"wide 15"deep and 23" tall steamer trunk I have been restoring it since I bought it I will be taking all the wallpaper out of the inside and chill lacking the inside would and Trey

      Your trunk was made in the early 1900's -- we know this by the metal used as slat clamps. Prior to the 1900's the clamps were made primarily of cast iron -- after the introduction of pressed tin clamps came into vogue. The alligator tin pattern was a common motif at the time. Yours is in good condition. This is a nice flat-top trunk, standard in form and style in its day. Nice find!
