Can anyone tell me what this is and what it was used for and its origin?
It looks to be made of ivory, but not sure. 97mm x 11mm

Look like it might have been a Victorian Stanhope pin holder. A Stan-hoscope.

Ricko ... take a close look in the hole in the end and see if there is a tiny lens with a small image (micro photograph). If you see a lens and image, this is a Stanhope.
