This is another of Marys' little gems. In reality it's not so little - more than a meter tall when propped up. The garden roller is outside in rain or sunshine, summer or winter, no surprise it is so rusty. I looked up very similar rollers on the net, probably it was made in the very early 20th century. Traditionally it was used early spring as a part of the lawn maintenance. Now it serves only decoration purpose in Marys' garden. She used to ride one during play when she was a child.
By the way during our strolls with my husband in the English countryside I often encounter similar very old rusty agricultural tools left laying around on farms.
Oooh! Love yours, I have one too, it was left behind by the previous owners of our old house.
Hubby tried to use it, he even not finished one round... handle broke and it is SO heavy!
Only a decorative piece in the garden now (not hubby, uh!) :-))
Thank you Nicefice, Kyra and Thomas for your comments/love click! I never tried to push it, it really looks heavy! :)
I thought only the newer types are fillable with water. I don't know about the old rollers. By the way thanks for the appreciation! :)
Thanks BB2, Olebodie and Fortapache for your love click!!! xxx
Perfect for maintaining the infield of a baseball diamond! [;>)
