I received this cabinet from my cousin who was moving, last year in September. However when he gave it to me it was in deplorable shape... loose legs the mirrored doors snapped off and a mirror loose from its setting. The wood had not seen a good waxing or conditioning in "I cant imagine how long." My husband was less than thrilled that I was bringing a less than perfect piece of antique furniture into the house. I couldn't bring myself to part with it and eventually took it to a Mennonite Gentleman who as you can see fixed the flaws this piece had to bring it back to life. There is some scroll work snapped of in the top mantle like piece. I am so very glad I couldn't part with it. The scalloped edge under the center curio is actually affixed to bottom door. when the large door is open it reveals multiple thin removable drawers for storing your sheet music and is in a lighter wood. I know that the piece came over with my cousins Great-Great Grandmothers aunt from Austria in the late 1800's so that's what I have been told. The glass in the center curio has started to run and the glass in the mirrors have stated to as well. From what I could tell the mirror that was loose seemed to be backed in mercury and silver with some oxidation and bubbles in the glass. Other that that I am open to any other info if any; someone more knowledgeable on sheet music cabinets might be able to provide. So very pleased that I found this site I have not shared this with anyone in my family in fear that my cousin will see it and may ask for it back...lol however this item will not be returning to him.;)

      Great looking piece.

You don't show any of the construction-- the drawer joints, interior and back would be useful in dating the piece.

From what I see, I would think you are about a century off on your dating. The applied "carved" pieces, bevel glass and curved glass all scream 20th century to me. I'd think that this is from the first quarter, 20th century.

Photos of the details mentioned above may assist in confirming the age.
