My grandson (21) called me today about a 30-40s "bellows" compact camera . He was going to buy it--I told him he couldn't get film. Did I give him bad info?? He was pretty excited because he got the seller down to $30.00. He didn't mention a brand. He collects vintage photos, dags and cdvs and now wants some cameras to set around. Should he be looking for working only vintage cameras?.

Well,.. you are correct about the film, and if you did find some, you would have to develop it yourself.
Looking for only vintage cameras, is a bit narrow, but he can certainly keep his ear to the ground for them. My advice, is that he finds one or two, working cameras, to experience the full immersion into film, and grow from there.

Thanks for the great advice! I'll call him up and tell him what an expert said. He will be very grateful!

Also consider that cameras from the 30s and 40s were made for a variety of different formats and roll film sizes. What is the camera being looked at? Also, 120 film was a very popular size and is still available.
