This is rather heavy - more than 3 pounds. Measures 8" across. Made either in Italy, France or Belgium judging from the MOD DEP on the bottom. I looked everywhere for a name and the only thing I found that even remotely looks like it might be name is what's in the fourth photo. It's probably just matrixing. No matter.
Age? 1930s? 1950s? An Image search came up empty.
I can't imagine anyone stubbing a cigarette out in this beauty.
Thanks for looking/loving, friends!

Really beautiful detailing going on with this one! I love it!
scott - that's what drew me to it. Next to it was a big, *fugly* bronze candelabra done in rococo style. Tagged at $22.00. Yucky uck uck!
Very pretty!
A good weapon too.
My house is full of potential weapons......
Mod Dep stands for Modèle Déposé which is Frenchy for Registered Design. Mod Dep was common on French, Italian and zee Germans silverware. But this looks like an Italian ashtray.
Thanks, Paul - I already knew that, it's in my description box. :-))))) I live in the Netherlands and am 2 1/2 hours from France, 15 minutes from Germany and 15 minutes from Belgium. I see many, many items with DEP MOD printed on them.
What a great location for treasure hunting XD
