I was leaving the pretty bad flea market today when I stopped back at a vendor (it was on the way to my car) and commented on the lamp.
He said it was rewired, so I looked at it and commented how the plug looks 1950s (turns out the plug is circa 1956.)
His English, I guess, wasn't the best, so he didn't tell me too much. The place the bulb sits looks newer than most of the brass, so perhaps it was rewired in the '50s?
Anyway, I told him I'd pass, and I began walking away before stopping when he said, "Is it worth 5 bucks to you?"
I decided I'd take it, and I paid him and left.
There are no markings beyond the plug, and a hidden patent date on the plug.
I'm just curious is anyone may know when the lamp is from and where it's from?
It is hand-painted and looks like a gaudy late Victorian plate. My great grandma used to rewire lamps, so I'm wondering if someone like her did this?
Forgive the poor background. I tested it in the garage in case it did some damage to the wiring. Seems to work fine.
From the little I can see it has been rewired. The style is called martha and george lamps and have seen plenty during my life. Just google that.
This does not match those lamps on Google at all. There is no person on here. Just a hand-painted rose.
