SOLVED! This is a 1966 Ross Custom. It is super rare because of the double down tubes. If you are interested in buying this bike please PM me. It is in great original condition.
I picked this bike up and can't seem to ID it. I was able to find the serial number and looked it up. It is saying it is a Schwinn Chicago built bike built in August of 1957. I looked through the 1957 schwinn catalogs and can not find this model. It looks to be un-restored and all original down to the peddles. The dual frame tubes coming down to the rear axle are throwing me. Can not find one with the dual tubes. It has dual lights in front. Seems to be all original. The sticker (not a metal badge) on it looks like it says american flyer with a bird in the background spreading its wings along with some other writing that I can't make out. The sticker is on the seat tube. The chain guard says custom on it. Oh also the rear hub has a red line running around the center. It is a single speed. I pulled the batteries out and they had some vintage Ash Flash Solar D cell batteries in it. If you can help me identify this bike that would be awesome. Would love to know where to get replacement bulbs as well. I am starting to think this is a very rare bike. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
The updated picks are after it has been detailed. Not sure why the pictures uploaded upside down. Sorry
Totally cool! I would ride it everyday!
This bike is a 1966 Ross Custom. The double down tubes are extremely rare and from what I can see, it is the only one around. PM me if you are interested in buying it. Otherwise it will just sit in my front room as a piece of art.
Very nice!
