This table was given to my great uncle, who was an estate manager for the Vanderbilts in Long Island, New York, by Molly Vanderbilt. As you can see, it has not been treated well. It is very solid and heavy, about 3-4 feet across, about 18 inches high. Apologies for not having any photos of the underside to show. The inlays are very nice, very detailed. They have lost pieces over the years. They look to be mostly sporting scenes. There are four wedge-shaped chairs/stools that fit underneath, about 15 inches high. Does anybody have any idea what kind of wood it might be, what part of China (Hong Kong?) it came from, what it would have been used for. The inlays feel like stone -- I don't think jade, since they are colored. Any help would be fantastic.
