This vase caught my attention at a show today with its huge winged Pegasus on one side, with mythical/classical figures on the other. Decoration around the top of the neck is typical of Harrach pieces in the antique revival style from around 1850 to the 1860s. It is very large and heavy, at 14.5" tall, about 8" wide, and weight of about 3-1/2 pounds. Best of all, it was an absolute bargain, considering it is about 150 years old and in excellent condition.
A lucky day all round!
I bet this is in the Harrach 1860 drawing book (the one with all the hand colored examples)!
A Classical beauty.. would fit into any decor be it antique or modern ...
Wow, really amazing condition, Warren. This is truly a beauty. And I agree with Marty - it really could do either way, couldn't it?
This would look great with some of my other pieces in my collection!! Did you buy this Warren?
I did, Sean!
compliments Warren what a wonderful finding
