It was just another day of antiquing untill i found this!! I found this little camera in its case in box all the way at the bottom! It took me a while to figure out what it was because ive never seen anthing like it! Ive been collecting cameras for a long time now and ive never seen this before or even heard of SIDA. So after realizing that it was a camera i had to have it!! I bought it for $10! After reserching, this camera was made in Germany in 1936. This camera was used in the war and its name was " german spy camera" because of how small this camera is! Its also 35mm and it takes a special type of roll film. I guess this is a pretty rare camera to find! I saw that it even is valued up to $400! Just thought i would share because ive never seen anything like this and I would love to get more information on it!

Indeed a nice find but not considered true spy equipment ... more novelty than anything else. There were several Sida cameras made in various countries including Germany, France, England and Poland. Your camera looks like the cast metal version. If yes, it was produced around 1938 and often referred to as the Sida Standard. FWIW, the original Bakelite version (invented and manufactured by Fritz Kaftanski in Berlin before WWII) was produced in 1936. Regardless, cute cameras and worthwhile to collect the various Bakelite versions found in red, green and mottled black colors.
