It says Waltham. I had it with some other items I recieved the other pocket watch was Elgin and engraved 1906. This one I cannot get open. Its open face watch and came in this box which is made out of wood with a felt covering which is tattered with a wood grain design. Can anyone help me figure this one out? Thanks! :)

Your case back is hinged. Check this out: http://www.thewatchguy.com/pages/OPENCASE.html Once you have it open get the serial number off the movement and check it here: http://www.nawcc-info.org/walthamdb/LookupSN.asp

Please post a picture of the movement once you do get it open. We'd love to see it!

I think you have something very special there! It looks like you have a size 6 Waltham that's been factory cased into what I'd say is a size 12 case. How wide is your watch measuring all the way across it's case from side to side? Post it here for more in depth info: http://mb.nawcc.org/forumdisplay.php?f=11

Yeah, That's a size 12... The movement is a 17 jewel size 6....It's beautiful. I've been collecting pocket watches for around 7-8 yrs. I've never seen one like it. The fretwork around the movement is what makes it special... And it's factory! Very cool!! Let me know if you want to sell it.

Out of the thousands of pocket watches on ebay right now I found four of these "opera" Walthams.... It'll be interesting to see what it goes for. Maybe I'll buy it!! http://cgi.ebay.com/14K-Gold-Waltham-Opera-Watch-S7398-/150599957358?pt=Pocket_Watches&hash=item231074fb6e

Thank you for all your help, I am going to try to find out if there is anything else out there about this particular one. :) I am not sure if I will sell it or not, I am going to watch those auctions too. :)

so it is one of the earlier ones before they patened in 1914, does it make it more valuable?
    12. toolate2 toolate2, 14 years ago
I think you probably have the original box it came in as well! I love the fact that your's was produced before the 1914 patent. Again, I think you have something very special there... Congrats!!

Yes, the box is what makes it. It must be the original box because it fits the pocket watch perfectly. It also has a little built in display stand so you can sit the watch upright in its protective felt holder. :)

The other that i found with this one was an Elgin 1904 I listed it on Ebay recently, I am glad I didn't list this one!!! :)

I have a gold Waltham pocket watch serial number 14477672. It doesn't seem to have a front gold cover, just the back. It's in good condition. Do you think it's worth anything?

Yes there is glass over the cover. I will post the picture soon. Just recharging my camera LOL.
    20. Kimmergrand, 14 years ago
Silly me. This is definitely not plastic, at least glass. Would it be worth anything?
