PHOTO ENLARGES, LOOK!
WHY? This seems so absurd. So dangerous, and what did the parents intend to convey with this peculiar message? I bought this because I have never seen anything so bizarre? Was there not a dolly or a teddy available in the photo studio?? The child is cross-eyed and would not see well as it is--and to put that in her tiny hand to flail around?? Gives me chills.
BABY W/HAMMER!
That's a creepy photo.....
Baby Lizzie Borden. Hey, it does enlarge ! Maybe a rattle that looks like a hammer ?
Yes...it enlarges.
It shouldn't appear anywhere should it? Where did you do an image search? Gosh! I thought the seller, was selling dups and was going to report him.
No, PCC, it is a portrait of the hammer ;-)
Babies are dangerous.... hammers are cute!
Blunderbuss2--If you click the photo it will enlarge.
AND-- That was funny. " Baby Lizzie Borden"--you have a quick mind!!
maybe her parents want her to be a judge badly
Can I print something on the card so it can't be reproduced?
Little Judge--- Judy (fleafinder) or Little Lizzie Borden"(blunderbuss2) ??

CHILD GIRL DRESS HOLDING HAMMER TOY ? YOUNG SHELDON IOWA CABINET CARD PHOTO CDV
Item price $2.95 YEP! IT IS MINE ALRIGHT.
Looks like a cobbler's hammer ... probably the child of a cobbler. Craftsmen were proud of the tools of their trade.
Just to clear up something that was posted here and may have confused folks I enclosed part of my invoice for all to see that I own this item.It was purchased from a party called old man books
A cobbler's hammer--- well that is a good suggestion rniederman-- still, daddy proud or not--I think a teddy would have looked a little more fitting to send back home to great-grandma .Wadda ya say? Thanks for your comment. You may have "HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD".
Above,Kyra says" Babies are dangerous--Hammers are cute"!! Everybody has a funny retort today!
I remember seeing a clear plastic hammer baby rattle with coloured things in it. Maybe that was in a display of prison made weapons ?!!
Lizzie Borden took an ax,
Gave her mother 40 whacks.
After she had seen what she had done,
She gave her father 41....lol hmmmmmmmm
wow wow wow recordmantime that seems like judy the ripper in the making!
lmao
There you go! This is such an odd photo--I had to have it. and Blunderbuss2--I think I also saw a rattle something like that--so maybe a mom & dad would get it for their boy child. I also recall a huge safety pin with the colered beads.
Maybe scottvez will drop in and tell us if maybe that is a baby boy?? He really has the smarts when looking at antique photos--the "go to" person for insight.
The little boys wore dresses back then. If so, then it is still weird choice of prop--but with the edge off a teeny bit.
After looking at this weird photo and reading the comments, I think that I need to go out and get "hammered."
Meet you at the Yacht Club in 15 !
OK blunder...should be fun. Bring your photos.
This has been a lot of fun for me--everybody is funny!
PostCardCollector, Yes. I have enjoyed this post :)
Watch out, vintagelamp, bb2 likes to pin hands to the bar with his Gerber dagger! [;>)))))
It's a very small object, and she/he doesn't seem to have any trouble holding on to it. I don't think a child that age would be holding, or be given, an actual hammer which are usually quite heavy to get the maximum benefit!
On the other hand.......
No - it may be a teeny child's toy hammer (I don't mean a teeny child) which I don't expect they made then, it looks so perfectly like a hammer - but............that's just not right on so many levels.
Ah! That is a good point about the weight of a real tool. Teeny little hands.
Baby is about 6 mos, would you say?---but this child looks small boned and rather fragile, not particularly "happy" either. Not a good candidate for a hammer! I am fairly certain that it is a girl, (little petticoat garment under "dress".)
This discussion with all the humor, and straight on informative options has really been one of my most playfully entertaining posts. Thanks peeps!
NOW, I gotta go find more like this!!
Ah, give em a rattle that looks like a gun !! Just so it doesn't say "MADE IN CHINA" !! That would be more American !
NevadaBlades, Yes, his reputation is well known.
