This is a real beauty, I have been after one for a while now.
Dates to 1889, and the mother of pearl scales are in extremely good condition for their age.
Size folded is 3 inches, open 5 1/4 inches. Even the spine is engraved (sorry no pics of this!), sort of like engine-turning.
I love the shape and carving on the scales, and the blade is in good nick too.
The maker (JEB) is John Edward Bingham (Sir) of Walker and Hall fame.
I got this last Friday, the last car boot of the holiday, and it cost the princely sum of £5!
Thanks for the loves everyone!
Very beautiful, and a great find!!!!
Thanks TassieDevil!
Fantastic buy, Bob! It's a great feeling to not only find but to actually acquire something that you'd been looking for a long time. I had the same experience with a baseball glove. When I was a kid, my very first glove was "6-finger" model, where the glove's webbing was designed to look like another finger. It took me until I was 45 years old to find another 6-finger model. It cost over $200 new at SPORTS AUTHORITY, a bit pricey, but I had to have it, so I went ahead and spent the money! So, I know the feeling. But you got your knife at a bargain! I'm really glad for you, Bob.
Thanks KJ, I was really lucky with this one, they usually cost around £50-80, way out of my price range!
fantastic find for sure !
Thank you, and thanks all for the loves.
