Time to post something different instead of early wood and brass cameras and related photographica from my collection. We have some antique glass that has been passed down and I found time to photograph an example.
This is a standing bowl with cover made of pressed glass - possibly lead crystal. The design includes circular medallion-like areas in the cover and upper base in which an artist wheel-cut / etched birds.
It’s a nice looking piece that is 14” tall and 7½” wide. Otherwise there isn’t any background information or marks. We also have a matching, short covered bowl form (candy dish?) of this piece.
Thoughts about what this might be?

Wow ... it didn't take more than a minute or two for TallCakes to identify this. I did a search and learned it is a large candy jar with lid and that Hofbauer Crystal Co. of West Germany produced collectible lead crystal in the mid-to late 1900s.
this is from Hofbauer 'Byrdes' collection
That was quick TallCakes ... greatly appreciated. I looked up Hofbauer 'Byrdes' collection, found the piece and some background info. Thanks!
