Hi Folks,
I picked this fellow up today and believe he is an oldie. The seams are tight, and he just feels right but I have been wrong before. He stands 6 1/4" in height. There was brown felt type stuff on the bottom that I peeled off to have a look (last photo)
I'm trying to figure out if the lever has been replaced - seems they often are but I don't know how to tell if original or not.
From 'The Mechanical Bank Collectors of America' site, this was most likely made by Kyser and Rex of Philadelphia circa mid 1880s-1890s.
Oh, he's a ice one!! I do believe you have the real deal there. The repros are fairly easy to spot and this one does not look like a repro at all. Wonderful find!!
Thanks for love folks!
Thank-you jscotto363! I think he is pretty nice too!
Not bad looking for 136:)
A great find, congrats !~
That's sweet.
You could take it apart and look at the lever to get a better idea, but I looks right to me.
Cock-a-doodle duper!
What a sweet little bank, I hope he turns out to be the real thing! :)
