Does say sater on the watch chain. Bought at a second hand store do not think they knew it had a picture and hair inside. Stone is red

I can't see anything printed on the chain - where are you looking? Judging from the high, stiff collar on the man in the photo, I'd say this is Edwardian.

ok just checked with better mag/glass it say Bates & Bacon on the watch chain not Sater.
