    Grant's Creek Lighthouse - August, 2016 - North Carolina

Hello everybody, I recently completed a series of 2 new lighthouses, the Rile's Creek Lighthouse, and in this post, the Grant's Creek Lighthouse. Like my other lighthouse, this one is also built entirely from scratch using Popsicle sticks, small pieces of wood, and tin. It is built in the late 1800s style, with navy blue paint, cream and red trim, and golden decorations. I call this one the Grant's Creek Lighthouse, after our local Grant's Creek, located in Western Piedmont North Carolina, built in July of 2016. It is slightly shorter than the previous lighthouse, but with a more elaborate construction. It was a bit more challenging for me to build this one, since it required a more unusual and elaborate frame, and has more windows in it than any other house I have made to date; it probably took around 20-25 hours total to build. It sure was worth it though! I hope that this will provide inspiration for those who enjoy folk art, and might spark some ideas for one's own lighthouses and houses. Enjoy, and thanks for reading!
UPDATE: In the Summer of 2020, a hurricane came through our area, and did substantial damage to the lighthouse, and subsequently if required extensive repair, and was greatly modified. The first 2 images, show the lighthouse as it appears today in 2023, 7 years outdoors in the elements after it was built. The 3rd image shows how the house looked in 2016 when it was new, and the last image shows the original interior.
