I purchased this bowl from a dealer in mixed wares. It is 6 3/4" in diameter at the top, 3 1/2" tall. It was molded/thrown by hand. The base was finished with a tool that incised the clay. There is a roughly incised spiral in the center of the base. I would love to know where and roughly when this was made. On-line research suggests this is Swatow ware from China.
i love this! don't know how i missed it!
yes this is swatow
today, i probably would have guessed that it is Inuyama ware from Japan.
i think you right and i am wrong , a sort of aichi type inuyami, the glazing is different from Swatow
actually we are in trouble here , because i don,t recognize the mark as late edo commited, must be a sort of meiji
