This is an old 8-sided asian box (4.5"in diameter X 2-2.5" tall) made of some kind of dark wood with a horn (?) wood (?) top and inlays of the same material on each side face and on the bottom. The interior chamber is round and only extends about 1.25" down and maybe .5" towards each side. It is of the same dark wood seen on the outside of the box and has no signs of what it used to contain. There are images of the Buddha etched into the side panels, bottom inlay and most of the top scenes. There is a yin-yang symbol on the top round cover. I do not know anything about where the box came from, what it was used for, what materials it is actually made out of, or the period in which it may have been created. It is obviously hand-made and is worn a bit from use. I am looking for your help in identifying anything at all about it. THANK YOU!
