I was out kayaking on the Connecticut River along my family's property the other day with my sister and we found this beautiful old camp / house and it had a for sale sign. it was on the vermont side, and my family's property is along the nh side. we jumped in her car and rushed over to see it right away. it needs a whole lot of work, but it has a gorgeous setting, including a swimming hole and the ruin's of an old mill and wonderful beaches and access for getting boats/shells in/out of the water. there are two houses [the other is not much, but a renter on the road], a large workshop / garage, 3 bedrooms, and this site on the sharpest bend of the Connecticut River. my sister bought it right away and now i have a fun new project in vermont! my family's property stretches for almost two miles on the other side of the river in nh.
That it totally awesome! Beautiful! What kind of kayak do you paddle? I have whitewater kayaks and try to go often.
Like a small oasis, what a treasure.
So, you are giving up finally on the left coast ? What took you so long ? If I poste some pix of SXM, you will want to move here ! That's OK !
This is wonderful, I would love to live in a place like this.....so beautiful and serene.... Well done to your sister!!! The house is gorgeous.......
Everyone should have a project like this. Beautiful place congratulations to your sister.
I absolutely love this!! What a wonderful place to just get away for a week!! Your sister did really well!!!
So beautiful and serene !
thanks everyone. i'll be spending lots more time back there starting in the spring. i can't stop landscaping it in my head! i love kayaking of all kind - whitewater, still water, ocean, etc....
Beautiful place:) looks like a lot of fun and future family adventures!
Whew! Boy, whatta nice place! Hey, now ya gotta come up with a name for it! [;>)
thanks Nevada and Trey! i'm calling it the Zombie Squirrel Camp for the time being - in honor of the very smelly, dead squirrel in the kitchen. i think we'll hold off on future names till it gets fixed up. we're planning to expand the porch along the river side of the house and having it screened in.
Time to Squrell proof it!!!
Not an easy job & I think flying squirrels are the worst.
Great post
thanks Trey, blunder and clockerman!

thanks wickencrafts! the zombie squirrel was just a dead gray squirrel which appeared to have had it's face eaten off [probably by another gray squirrel on flakka].
LoL
ho2cultcha that is ticklish funny
BUT the eater and the eaten found the way to indoors.
Hope you can find their egress and keep the critters out
The joys of country livin
Looks to be a nice property with awe inspiring water features
