I could have bought this decor for less, several times. But I had to have precisely this one. I love its shape, its honest red color and the serious size of 10'', which is still not imposing. But more important than all that is the original sticker, which proves that this vase (and very likely the whole range in this decor) was produced in the new factory in Spiegelau, on the German side of the border, amidst the Poschinger empire. This sticker is very often found on Schaumglas and other designs erroneously called Schaumglas in Ebay listings, like chine, controlled bubble etc. The permanent task for the loetz.com group is to determine the entire range of designs produced in this factory during the late 30s and early 40s.
There is no doubt that we can call this one Diaspora New, but there is one additional element: if you compare it to the recently posted pink Diaspora New, you'll notice that the black outer decor consists of lines with dots on both sides that make them look like a cartoon bone. This element was introduced by Otto Prutscher about 15 years earlier and then varied by the factory in later designs (see Dave's earlier post). Apart from the yellow version there is also a green on clear one, see www.madforglass.com.
Nice shape and decor, oh beautiful label.
