Here's the neat little record player I traded for the Tavanness art deco clock. Made by Westinghouse in the 50's it runs on a single tube amp that takes a moment to warm up but still works perfectly. It features a flocked turntable to protect the records and also has a pop up 45 adapter. It will play 33-45-78 and 16 rpm records. The needle is an Astatic twist-flip cartridge. One side is for 33-45 while the other is for 78's. At first the worn needle just slid across the records but I ordered a new diamond one from Ebay and now it tracks just fine. This looks like it belonged to a school at one time as it had "Grade 1" written on the inside of the lid in marker. Luckily most of it came off. It's in quite good shape for 50 plus years old. -Mike-
Sweet!! Love the fact that the *tube has to warm up * before it works. Young Kids have NO IDEA what we had to endure....LOL

Thanks Bonnie :)... it took quite a while for one to show up here as well. They were well used and abused and not many survived, This one being in a school system is probably what saved it.

The most famous and sought after Record Players on the UK are Dansettes. But I also like the French Balad's. Nothing quite like listening to a vinyl!
I had one,very similar, in an attick.It was found by a young enthusisast so I gave him this record player.He fixed it and it is in use again.It has now been upgraded to an antique.

I guess when we were in our teens, most of us in the 60s generation had one of these portable record players. I wonder whatever happened to mine??? Aw, well, too many years ago ~ only memories left now. [;>)
Many years for me too but seems like yesterday Nevada....I had a blue and white Stereo changer model in the 60's with fold out detachable side speakers. Don't know what happened to it either, I think I got it from Montgomery Wards with birthday or First Communion money. :)
Very cool Mike! I too had one of these when I was younger. I don't remember how, but I remember splicing additional speakers to it placing them around the room... great memories!

So I wasn't alone huh? I've always had a love for multi speaker music which exists to this day! That love led me to build a surround sound home theater some years back which I couldn't live without LOL.

it sounded great, as I remember.
Your welcome Fran..yes it is Mono and has a single tube in the amp so it has to warm up a few seconds before you can hear anything. Not a bad little record player for back in the day. :)
