'50s bedside lamp; maybe from a motel; maybe not, but it makes me think of the old, non chain, 'mom & pop' motels. It works; left only, right only or both, but with my 100 + year old house, and very few outlets, it currently (no pun) serves as a decorative piece . . . or VERY heavy paperweight.
