Do not know provenance for this little bird except it's marked Made in Japan. Could be a pie bird since it is hollow with several holes, though most I've seen have open bird mouths.
I don't know which family member owned this although I suspect it was my grandmother, married 1918, who was a fantastic pie baker. It's doubtful she ever used a pie bird but she made delicious pies.
Most of her "good things" sat on a shelf or in a drawer and were used only for company, or never.
