Hello everyone.
This is pretty nice i think.
Tasmanian made by Taylor & Sharp Hobart 1900-1920. Marked T&S and Regd on the back.
It is a Trigonia shell souvenir of Tasmania brooch, silver with a gold map of Tassie on the front. Quite small measuring about 1 inch high and wide.
It is still in excellent condition.
Hope you like this one.....bit on the unusual side I think! Thanks, Judy
Oh boy, I never imagined silver and gold together with a seashell. That's really beautiful.
Thanks Bonnie, the thing I find most interesting with this brooch is the way the fitting curves around the shell.....so well done!
It is different Judy and gorgeous with it. I think it's wonderful the shell has survived - obviously cared for. I also love the way Tasmanians put Tassie on things - it's doesn't seem to happen much for the mainland states!
Oh! Lovely Tasmanian brooch! I'm with Karen's comment too :-)
Thanks Karen, and yes Tassie does seem to be on a lot of things!!! I think I only have a couple of old souvenir jewellery pieces that have NSW or country towns on them....will have to find them and post!!
