Pretty art studio pottery vase. I thought identification might be easy with the Elk marking imprint and the signature. However, I have found nothing. I have not found an Elk's Maker's Mark like this one, if any. There is also a number imprint on the bottom. Plus, I can't make out the signature! It appears to be in some form of fancy calligraphy. If you made pottery and took the time to mark it with 3 marks, including your signature, why would you make your signature mark illegible?! Even if it is pretty, fancy, calligraphic letters!
Ok, so, you now know, I can't figure out who made this cute vase. The vase is smooth and perfect in form.
Do you have any idea about this vase? Thank you for any information.
Update: Huge thanks to maryh1956 for identifying this piece!

Actually, after reading the link, it was his daughter Thora who probably created this piece in the 1930 era. The lettering you couldn’t read is probably the pattern name, written in Danish
Thank you, thank you, thank you, maryh1956!! You are the best! I'm so happy to know who made this! I now need to recategorize it. By the way, I'm also a Mary H., but 1965. ;).
Thank you PostCardCollector!
You’re welcome Poire, are you French? I see that you live in one of my favorite cities, we will be visiting Chicago in a few weeks.
Hi maryh1956. No, I'm not French. Just a native Illinoisan who studied French in college and lived in France some 30 years ago during my junior year in college. I still love to try to speak French or, at the very least, use French words as screen names. ;) I hope you have a wonderful time in Chicago! - Mary
Thanks. Any good thrift stores in Chicago? We’r getting our condo ready to rent again, but will have time to visit the museums and hopefully a show. Wish we could just have the place as a vacation home. One day....
Mary, there are so many thrift stores in the Chicago area, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Unique, etc. There are also resale shops like The Brown Elephant, which are similar to thrift stores in that they take donations of goods to resell for a charity. However, The Brown Elephant and other such shops are a bit more expensive than the thrift stores. My mom has always liked the Mt. Sinai Hospital Resale Shop at 814 W. Diversey. Though, it has been at least 5 years since either one of us has been there. So, I can't attest to the quality and type of the goods there now. Also, as with, I believe, most Goodwills, they have become savvy to the history and value of its donated items.
I, actually, prefer the estate sales to the thrift stores (although I still like them too!). Have you ever looked at estatesales.net? Look at it for the time you will be in Chicago. Good luck!!
stunning Mary!!
Thank you, Sean!! I got this in a resale shop in Wisconsin! :)
