-Back of photo has a bit of paper abrasion, but still you are able to see it. I looked in 3 albums full and so far---this is the only person, on a very vintage CDV who SMILED!!
#3 Photograph Artist, F.S. Mann. Wellington Place, Hastings. I think England--But the thickness of this card is like our 186o-70s cards.& mode of attire puts him in the slot...what say you?
Photo #4 is the very thin-ness of the card comparable to right time estimate I believe.
Smile!!! Love it!
Rniederman..smile!
That's something you really do not see much of from that era. Great photo!
I'm smiling! Fun to see an early picture with a happy face ... quite unusual but there it is. I'm guessing several tries had to be done to get the picture. Here's a link to the photographer - Frederick Stephen Mann (c1822-1904): http://www.photohistory-sussex.co.uk/HasPhotgrsMann.htm Lots of good pictures and a couple with smiling (somewhat) clients.
OMG!! I never in a million years expected to see all that info and photos of F.S. Mann- ALL that info--THANK YOU!!!!-
I bought that along with two other interesting photos about the same time period. I'll have go back and see if they are also Mann. The 3 were offered as one buy--but it was the man with the charming smile that made me want to buy the offer. Reasonable price. I kind of forgot about the photo, and thought--I saw a smile somewhere---and spent some (fun) time searching and up he popped.
I love looking at old photos.
