Another item from thrift store . Found info on this from the Historical society in Shelbyville Ill. where the Lantz Bros. made furniture and also had a funeral home from the 1860s to 1940s. Of course they also manufactured coffins.
That's really nice!
Ya know, there is no "Selbyville" Illinois. Only Shelbyville. I lived in Rantoul for 12 years.
There's a Selbyville in Delaware.
You're so right B . The town IS Shelbyville . We have something in common--although well before your time . I was stationed at the Air base in Rantoul . 1953 !!
Efesgirl ,looking back at the Lantz Bros. dresser , printed on the back ( in the photo )is "Selbyville "
I wonder if this is a bogus piece ?
Classic serpentine shape to the top and top drawer,
thank you PhilDMorris , the top is sectioned --2 drawers . I had someone question why the bottom drawer is a different type of wood. Any ideas ?
The top drawers are quartersawn oak and I've seen dressers designed this way, Nice piece!!!
yougottahavestuff . I like the name .I keep telling my wife that same thing. She has another name for my " stuff " . Thanks for the information .I'll add it to my description.
