DooleyInCo…
(1 item)
Schmit Bros Trunk Co from Oshkosh, WI.
Received from my husband's sister and, though it has plenty of wear and tear, the artwork still retains a beautiful vibrancy. It was filled with a huge stack of postcards sent to an ancestor between 1908-1918.
That trunk has a great interior. Do not see one that nice very often.
Alligator tin , my favorite, inside is assume!
Awesome not assume dummy, LOL!!

Here is the patent for the caster that the interior label refers too.
Here is an early label and a bill head for the company and an image of the location where it was made:

It is a wonderful example thanks for the post.
Thank you for everyone's comments and additional background on this piece!
Really nice.
So glad for all your posts on this item- with special thanks to you, DooleyInColorado, for original submission, and to Drill, also for the terrific background info! I have one of this company's trunks, recently acquired, and had been longing for more info about it. My similar item is retouched (by me), the Schmit folk did beautifully colored work on some items (like mine), so I copied from the minuscule flecks remaining amid the rust, in an effort to revive the earlier glory. Like it and plan to post pics in upcoming collection - will be happy to get all your "likes" and "dislikes."
What an amazing trunk! And that interior is out of this world!!

A patent for a similar style of trunk interior by this manufacturer.
