So seller described these as just art deco vases, which clearly they are. My suspicion is that they are probably Scailmont (Belgian) and technically not Bohemian. But I can't be 100% sure as I can't find very much information about the company on line. Perhaps I should spend some money on a book once in a while, instead of vases.... but I digress.... Seller had one vase at €20 but in the description said he had another vase and that a buyer could have both for €30 ... well it would be rude not to take him up on the offer.
From what I can tell, if they were Scailmont as opposed to a bohemian maker one would expect, from what little information I have found, for them to be signed in the mold, either a maker's name or the words Made in Belgium on the base. Neither are signed. Some minor nibbles to the rims, otherwise a rather interesting find I think.
Anyway arrived today, freshly photgraphed (not cleaned), 7" (19cm) tall.
So very special
Thanks Karen!
Thanks Lisa
Yes I think probably they are and although technically not Bohemian I think we do not have enough postings of this particular maker. I think there is an interesting fusion of French and Bohemian design here and is worthy of some note.
