A heavy French vase from Daum Frères of Nancy, France.
It has a great form for use with or without flowers.
The second photo shows the etched signature to the edge of the base.

Many thanks to PARIS1925 for the THIRTIES attribution.

Not so far. I think the signature is much earlier than I had previously thought. When I bought it I thought it was from the fifties.

      Thanks again to ozmarty, BELLIN68 & scandinavian_pieces!

      Ciao BELLIN!
I've just had another look at the vase and some of the net sites.
The signature has four parts: Daum, the cross of Lorraine, Nancy and France. The France suggests a date after 1920. That's as far as I have got so far.

Check this site out to an introduction to the history behind marks.
It involves McKinley prior to his election as President, World War I, Protectionist Policy, the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Acts of 1930 and The Great Depression:

What they say about pottery was relevant to all goods including glass.

Did you see this page? They say 1910 to 15 and 1920:

      What does DLG mean?

Marinot? Come on. But is it Daum ?
    14. vetraio50 vetraio50, 10 years ago
      Thanks DAVE !!!!!!!
So it is not "Devilish Little Grin"?

      LOL!

      Babblyon has these suggestions:
DLG est un sigle qui désigne :
      - DLG (Dark Latin Groove) est une formation musicale
      - Code aéroport IATA de Dillingham (Alaska, États-Unis)
      - Dicos libres et gratuits est une bibliothèque électronique
      - le Didier Lockwood Group, du nom du violoniste français.

But for my information do the letters stand for: " de la genre"?
