    Hello,

I have had these marbles since I was a little girl, having been given them by an old lady. She told me they were very old. I have no idea how old or their origin, but I would be very interested to know more about them. They were always my prized marbles in my collection and I have no interest in selling them, but would love to know more about them if anyone can offer any info? They range in size from approx 13mm - 23mm.

    Thank you for any information!

Hi, no expert by a long ways but I do know a little bit.
the one with the webbing in the center is called a latticino core,
the biggest one next to it looks to be a ribbon core and the smaller ones
on both ends I believe are called josephs coat. All of the spiral, barber pole looking marbles like these are very early, hand made, come from Germany, and some of the most sought after collectables. I believe the dates range from mid 1800's to early 1900's and depending on condition and rarity can be worth a few dollars each to a few hundred. The easiest way to identify these types are by the rough spots at either poles indicating that they are hand made, and the symmetrical may pole looking spiral twist of the ribbons.
      Hope this helps,
      mike

No clue on maker.....I would have GUESSED Italian made marbles with the latticino inside since Murano Italy made glass with this. But that is only a guess, but those marbles are KEEPERS !! But appear to be German too from what I can find on-line. this is where I was reading

Thank you ORmarbleguy and antiquerose! Really appreciate your comments. I have no intention of getting rid of them, but to be honest, they have a few chips in them so are not in mint condition anyway. I just find it fascinating and realise they are special :)
