This was in my parents garage. My grandfather had stored his uniforms from WWII in it. Not sure much about it. I tried looking up Bristol trunks and nothing really came up to tell me more about it. I would like to restore it. More likely will just get it cleaned up and let it go. It looks to have been painted black at one time.
Maybe it was the Bristol Conn. factory of a certain manufacturer of the trunk or slat maker. much luck thanks for the post.
Alligator embossed tin, my favorite! Trunk is probably from around 1885 to 1895, trunk is what they call a cross slat trunk, they became popular in the mid 1880's Bristol size label on the bottom my have nothing to do with the trunk, certainly not a trunk makers label. Many trunk makers didn't put labels on there trunks, but if they did it would not have been on the bottom of the trunk it would have been somewhere inside. Not a bad looking trunk with a little elbow grease and a good cleaning it would look nice.
