haven't done a lot of learning on this 1. I know its a really nice example of these old scout knives. I doubt highly it was made during the war yrs. Im not sure B svoboda even made knives during ww2.

its really solid and is all but defect free. im happy with it for the price I paid.. ive been watching these boy scout knives for a long time, and just now got 1 I could afford. ive got 1 more of them coming that's an edge brand model that could've very well been ww2, but its blade has been put threw heck. ill post it later. but this mid century knife looks really nice. imo

Exact copy of the Youth Corp. knife but obviously made after the war.

thanks blunderbuss2. id been researching the edge brand that's coming, I didn't think much of this 1 being ww2, but the edge brand seems a lil more questionable. the 420 model is being described as ww2. that's a subject/ knife/ that's a discussion to have later. very few later makers were developing knives during ww2. edge brand was making knives at that time for sure. anton wingens and a few others survived. not many others.. robi Klaus also comes to mind on questionable knives like this.

It says "GERMANY", which was only used on export & not during WWII.

youre right. ive been reading a lot today on these knives. the edge brand isn't a war knife either. the lettering ... Germany .... is on the ricasso. im still learning more about these knives.

both these knives have some collectability to them and demand slightly deep pockets to acquire. for whatever reasons. perhaps its more the design than anything else. even todays newer replicas are demanding a fair premium.

I've never owed or seen any of these that were not "HJ" & had the HJ symbol in the grip. You are showing me something new to me.

there were lots of premium german cutlers making these knives. I imagine they were still sold to the boy scout groups long after the war. i could've bought a war issued version for what I paid for the 2. but im still very happy to have them.

During Desert Storm in Iraq I picked up one of these Boy Scout knives in a Iraqi bunker we were clearing. I thought it was an odd battlefield find.

The Boy Scouts are supplying weapons to the enemy ?! Before we know it, they will be awarding them merit badges !! Is there one for making IED's ? Don't guess a suicide bomber gets to wear his ?

Blunder, i believe they are called "Camel Scouts" in the Land of the Sand! The Republican Guard were probably having their way with one of them, and he dropped his knife? It could have happened?????LMAO!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you got to keep the knife flashlarue, and "Thank You For Your Service"!

After WW2 Germany had a lot of unassembled youth daggers and still had the molds and machinery to make more. Since this knife was already used by Hitler youth it was easy to replace the "to remain nameless symbol" with the Boy Scout emblem and keep producing them. It still is a beautiful knife and there must have been be millions of them made since the war.
