Another one from my mysteries :) I bought this pendant ages ago from the seller where I used to buy lot of costume jewelry.
The chain is not original, this was done by silly crafty me so that I can wear the pendant ( and I wear it quite often).
About the pendant: The seller said to me that this is not a stone, that this is a glass, and I did not see any markings on the pendant so I thought its only a nice wearable piece of costume jewelry. Lately I noticed that there are markings though, on the pendant ring, but they are barely visible. One sign looks like DW (or possibly MO), the other one might be some number? Sorry for bad photos quality, I was not able to take better pictures of the markings. Yet, if you have some idea about who the pendant maker could be, or from which country, I would be very thankful to you.

Thank you! I have to wear more ornate pieces, I am just that type.

That's a maker's mark. Your red stone is glass, but the mount is silver. A lot of these makers are obscure and not listed on the web. I agree with Ms.CrystalShip - a plain silver chain would do your pendant much more justice. :-)))

      Thank you Efesgirl!
I can have plain silver chain anytime. Do not worry, the necklace does not look cheap, even if on the photo it does look this way I have to admit. But it looks good in the reality, with the right type of clothes.

I also see a W, maybe PIW? The other mark has numbers for the precious metal content but can't read them, maybe you'll manage to get a better photo later. I would date the pendant around 1900-1920. The stone is almost definitely glass.

Love it! Personally I like it how it is - with your chain. To me they look together really vintage or antique, despite the lobster claw fastening.

Thank you martika! I just wanted something different. Glad you like it!

My first thought just by looking is that the pendant might be old (19th) but the chain is new as well as the clasp. After that I red what davyd286 wrote and I see we think a long the same line. The pendant might be -I can not read the marks- as old as davyd said but it could also be from the 1940's when retro modern was popular. See my silver pendant from 1948:

This pendant is not from the 1940s imho, it's too small. 1900-1920 is still my opinion regarding style but it could also be a revival piece from much later. Your best bet is to try and identify the RIW or BIW mark; note the shape around the letters: that should help at least narrow down the country of origin.
