A Loetz "Phänomen Genre 7773" vase with Silver Overlay by Alvin. Candia ground with two wide silver/blue iridescent bands combed towards one another creating a single row of 'windows'. Ruffled rim and 3 thumb-print indentations. PN I-7468 Circa 1898 (Neu 822 Circa 1900).

Marks: (effaced A), STERLING M08, 925/1000 FINE, Initials "HFB" engraved into front cartouche. 9.5 " tall. 3" across bottom. 3.5" across widest width.

Update: I knew this vase came from the Baldwin estate in New Orleans, but thanks to info from "swfinluv1", I now know the "HFB" monogram stands for Henry Fay Baldwin (1864-1919). The Baldwins were a prominent society and business family in New Orleans.

That's stunning! And not that it makes any difference for the id but I think the second letter in the monogram is an F instead of a B (HFB).

Swfinluv1 -- Thank you, I wasn't sure of the script. Too hard for my tired old eyes to decipher.

You may want to do a little research if the provenance of these pieces interests you. It's possible that the HFB monogram may stand for Henry Fay Baldwin (1864-1919). The Baldwins were prominent in New Orleans and some of the pieces that have been passed down over the years (art, glass, etc) have gone to auction recently.

Thank you, Swfinluv1...It is from the Baldwin estate in New Orleans. I haven't had a chance to do research on the family yet.
