Vintage is French for I am not sure when it was made. Would guess it is 1920s through 1950s. Probably more towards the 1920s. As it is a diaper pail the rust is not a problem. Could be worse could have a vintage diaper stuck to it.
I actually like the bare spots on the lid. It gives it character. Also the multifaceted sides.
It photo 4 it is shown in its new home the bathroom along with its new friend the chamber pot.

"Did yah empty the chamber pot", my grandmother would ask me every morning. Yes, we did use these pots since we were poor and living outside of town. It was better than trudging to the outhouse at night during winter. RER

Thank you very much LOUMANUAL. I watch the house hunting shows in Alaska and they have to use out houses up there. Never once have they mentioned the chamber pot which would come in handy up there. I even have the chair that goes with the pot.

I don't mean to imply that I am old but I remember these. That was when people actually washed diapers and hung them on a clothesline to dry.

Down South we called a "slop jar" which was a "fancy" name (lol!) For a poor man's chamber pot. My grandmother who lived with us for a while, had one with a lid and she kept it in her room at night to potty in so she didn't have to journey to the bathroom. It was also very convenient (when clean, of course) for small children to have by their bed to throw up into, if said child was plagued by that sort of problem. Kept the bedsheets cleaner, you know. ????

Thank you Kady_424. That would be a good use for this one after adding a few mendits.
