The long awaited metal suitcase post. It is a picnic basket, it is actually more than that but that will take another post.
This is a Royalshire Picnicaire picnic basket. The case is metal. Looks like it may have been made by the American Metal Box Company but that is just a theory by me. Do not quote me on this.
Guestimates on this are 1950s-1960s which seem reasonable.
Has a generous set of color coordinated picnic plates and utensils. I am missing the proper forks and two spoons. Apparently it also came with inflatable chairs, or perhaps some did but there are none with this set.
Dimensions are about 20" x 14" x 6".
Drum Roll please.... Post #999, and it's awesome, incredible and amazing. :):)
I clicked on the last pic right away to see what was inside and my heart skipped a beat. I remember those dishes. I think my aunt had them but I don't remember the case. Fan....tastick!!! Congrats on a great find Fort and thanks so much for sharing. :)
Thank you very much OneGoodFind. Will need to do something special for #1000. Was planning on doing the GI Joe Half Track. Am planning on Monday night.
Thank you

Tartan, or plaid, is one of my favourite patterns (in most colours), but I have never liked it on baskets or cases. Funny, huh?
Clothing, carpeting, blankets, and wrapping paper I've liked it on (I wear it all the time).
Even my blanket here is Royal Stewart tartan.
Thank you very much SpiritBear. Never have given it much thought. But as I look around it seems I am partial to solid colors.
The plaid on this works as it opens up to be a picnic table. Looks like picnic tablecloth.
