Definitely not 'my' typical cake stand; technically I think Viking called it a compote tho' it is very flat and shallow. The price was so low that I couldn't pass it by. This is noted as from Viking's Epic line and named 'Arching Thumb Print Base'; the color was named persimmon. Each section of trefoil base begins as depressed concave thumbprint and then transitions to a convex (arching) oval that bends up the stem. Notice the three faint mold lines emanating from the center in the first image.

thank you AR : ) the Viking Art Glass site has this similar form in different sizes, but I didn't see one with exact match at this one. The glass is quite heavy and substantial for it's size.

Wow! This is amazing. My favorite Viking color. Its not the arching thumbprint base, though. With that base, there are arches and the pieces stands on three tippy toes. Here are examples from the Viking Glass Collectors site and a link to my post where there are closeups of the arched base.

Not sure what this base was called, but it looks like it could have been the starting point for the arching thumbprint base, or maybe an iteration of it.

jeneric's photos capture the arch between the toes better that mine. Mine have a lot of green from light shining through the glass.
