I got this today at a very random place. It came with another smaller one inside. I know it is brass and copper but that it about all I know. There are no markings on it besides its design on the bag itself. I don't know age, where it came from or any idea who made it. Any ideas would help so much!! Thanks!

I know metal purses were popular in the art deco era, I have three, but not as ornate as yours.

Whenever I see brass with that type of design I think India.

I'm not sure but it looks like a 20's or 30's purse. I'll do some Google work and see what I come up with. :)

Echoing the New-Not-Old sayers - tons on Google-Shopping - not valuable, so use it and enjoy.

These are actually very Common. Some say India, asia, Moroccan, Russian almost from anywhere. They go from $8 to $300 depending on condition. some are very simple some very ornate. somw are square. some are rectangle,, the rare ones are shaped like fish or other animals. Some are vintage but they are Wedding purses, or Mirauderie.

I've been told these "Pillow purses" were originally used by brides at wedding to carry gift money. I have one from Nepal that is very ornate.
