I bought this about 5 or 6 years ago at an online auction. The seller had it listed as Loetz Creta Diaspora, but subsequently some Kralik expert friends convinced me that it is not, Since I didn't overpay, I still feel as if I got a pretty good deal - and in my opinion, it is all about the object, and not quite so much about who made it. This bowl is about 9.5" in diameter and 3" deep with a crimped ruffled rim that is polished and a nicely finished polished pontil. The color of the base glass is a bit more emerald looking than Loetz Creta. The surface has a vivid metallic iridescence of purple and gold, and the little craters catch the light nicely. Unmarked, so c. pre WWI. If you must have Loetz, beware of Kralik Clones :-)
Love the Emerald Green and with that iridescence...it's magical. BOB
very plush emerald & the pattern sets the piece off beautifully first class Bob
Thanks Bob, Malkey, Manikin, sklo, & aura!
Much appreciated Vetraio, Alan, swfinluv, Ivonne & Ozmarty... How are things in Ozzie-land Marty? Haven't chatted with you in a while. - Cheers, - Bob
I love the form Bob, and the size of those craters wow! I've never seen a diaspora with the craters so large!
What a beautiful bowl. I agree with you that it is more about the object and the pleasure it brings the eye, rather than who made it. Sometimes people get so caught up in collecting a name that this can get overlooked.
Thank you Rick & Michelle - the reverse looks like a Lunar landscape! (LOL) Bob
