I'm trying to find out what year this Buco jacket is from. By the label can anyone what what year this jacket is from, or if it is a J-22 or maybe a J-24?
Or how can I find out if it is horse or cow hide?

Wow that is cool!
Thanks Aura and Olebodie.
I know it was made in Detroit, but for some reason the label dates it to late 40's but the J-24 wasn't supposed to have be made until the 50's. When Buco used a different label. On one forum a helpful knowledgeable gentleman told me that it could be a prototype made in the late 40s. Just wish I could find The proper resources to verify that.
I am by no means an expert on the topic, but my understanding is that the Buco brown label sits the jacket in a late 40's - early 50's production. Just looking at this jacket, I would confidently guess that it is horsehide. I'm finding similar information that the J24 was a 50's jacket, but also finding that it's predecessor, the J23, may have also had the nylon lining. Either way, enjoy the hunt for good information. The Japanese brand The Real Mccoys now produces accurate reproductions of old Buco products. I'm sure they have a brand archive/historian that could provide a definitive answer, though you may need to use google translate. I've always had success contacting brands directly, usually someone on board is excited to see what you have to share.
