This little doll dresser trunk has been in my collection for about 5 years now. It's about 16" wide, 13" tall, and 9" deep. It's all original with the canvas covering, small wheels, pull out drawers and upper compartment. The brass lock is marked "Pat. July 8, 1884". This has been one of my favorite mini trunks since I found it. The pictures in it are from children's stories or fairy tales. I know some people may call these a salesman's sample but I really think they were made as toys, mostly because some of the early trunk maker's catalogs listed a variety of these as "toy trunks". Thanks for looking!

      Marvin,
That is pretty spectacular! I've seen many toy trunks, and I have several myself, but this is the first toy dresser trunk I've ever seen. Really amazing looking.

I would concur with js on this -- and to add that I would not have thought someone would take all of the substantial effort to make a toy one of these. You know it's well done when proportionately without the coke can for scale it would easily appear as a full scale trunk. Just a great find and wonderful to see.

Very cool TrunkerMarvin, love it, you have a fantastic collection! and thanks for the backup on the pirate posting.

This is amazing! I had no idea that a doll/toy trunk like this was ever made. I, too, have several of them and look for them on EBay all the time. I have never seen one of these. Thanks so much for sharing!

Scott, trunkman, greendog, and kyhome... thanks very much! I appreciate the comments. It's nice to be able to share pictures of unusual items on here. I've only seen two or three similar toy trunks (not exactly alike) in over 40 years of trunk searching. Glad that someone really took care of this one too. Oh, greendog, you're welcome and I understand what you meant about your use of "pirate chest".

Drill, thanks for the links to the Stallman trunks. Yes, it's definitely more like the Stallman style than to most other bureau trunks I've seen. But there was no name on this little one, so not sure who made it. It would have been very interesting if Stallman did make some of these and put their label on them. I guess we'll never know for certain. Thanks!
