This was my awesome garage sale find, but I know nothing much about it, it has leather punched design on top and leather handles , would like to know If I got a steal for $25.00, is it best to leave it the way it is or restore it?

Hello, you did get a great buy on this trunk. You picture is very small so it's hard to see much of the real details, but based on the lock and trunk style it was probably made from the 1880's to 1890's. But if I could see it better and the latches, I may be able to narrow that down some. Many of these barrel top trunks from that time period had hand tooled leather covering. If the leather is in good enough condition and intact, you would probably want to preserve it with some mink oil polish or other good leather preservative (not saddle soap). I've worked on many trunks of this style, but if you're going to keep it I think you should decide how you prefer it to look. Nice condition leather covered trunks can be hard to find. Can you post a picture of the interior and larger size pictures? Marvin ThisOldTrunk.com

What an amazing trunk!! A rarity for sure. You most definitely did well on this one.
