Hello CW friends!!
I keep all of my French made trunks together. I don't have that many French made trunks in my collection, but I thought I'd group them all together and show off what I do have.
Most are Ladies' and Gentlemen's hat trunks. But, I thought they all looked great together. I hope you do as well.
Thanks for stopping in to have a look. Always very much appreciated!!!

I loved them individually and even more in this nice grouping!!!
Bravo Scott :-)
Thank you so much Kyra!! The French trunk styles are my absolute favorites, but I don't come across very many in all of my searches (that are within my budget). Thanks again so much. Thanks also for the love and for stopping in. Always very sincerely appreciated!!
The trunks are very cool and I love that piece of furniture in the background on right. So, beautiful!!!!
myoldkyhome,
Thanks so very much!! That piece of furniture is actually a Queen Anne reproduction. Not an antique by no means, but we've had it for many years now. Thanks again. And thank you for the appreciation and for dropping by. Always so very much appreciated!!!
Great grouping, Scott. Especially like the dark brown on far left! [;>)
Excellent photograph Scott! You presented your babies beautifully! Just one question... How do you get around the living room with these right in the middle? I'm just kidding of course :-)
NevadaBlades,
Thanks very much! That dark brown one on the left is actually real crocodile hide covered and one of my favorites. Amazingly enough, the crocodile hide in still in really nice condition and 100% intact. Thanks for the appreciation and for dropping in. Very much appreciated!!
Rick,
Thanks! We've learned to hop over them:) I actually keep most of my trunks in a spare bedroom in our house. One of these days, I'll build custom wall shelves and display them on the shelves. Thanks for the appreciation and for stopping in. Very kindly appreciated!!!
you made me recall of Midnight in Paris of woody Allen
any GOYARD in that group? great collection..
Speaking of Goyard their sign is quite cool.

kivatinitz,
I'm glad it spurred a memory for you! Glad you dropped by. And thanks so much for the love!!
SEAN,
Thanks very much!! Sorry, no Goyards in this group. Still working toward adding the Goyard and the Moynat trunks to my collection:) Thanks for the appreciation and for stopping by. Very much appreciated!!!
Drill,
I want that incredible sign hanging outside my shop. Wouldn't that be cool!!!
It is cool one but thats's a new sign Scott,I'll take an old sign like Haskell's barber
pole.

Hey Scott, found a better picture of that Haskell sign with some info ( just zoom in)
Wonder where this thing ended up?

Drill,
What an incredible Haskell Bros. sign. Can you imagine what that must have looked like at night all lit up? Wow! And it cost $800. Wonder what that would be worth in today's dollars? Very incredible indeed!
greendog,
Thanks very much for the appreciation and for dropping in. Many thanks my friend!!
P.E. Guerin still in business since the 1850s
http://www.peguerin.com/images/historic.jpg
these may be the blokes that made that sign.
P.E. Guerin.com has the complete company history.
That's pretty impressive that they've been in business all these years and still prospering today. That says quite a lot for a company's reputation.

Scott found a picture of your place in a few years.
They look stunning, and it is Funny how some grouped together makes ART !! Well Done, super Pieces !!
lol @DRILL comment !!
Drill,
That's too funny! Very cool pic though. Funny you should mention the overload of trunks. We're actually buying a larger home within the next 12 months. I told my wife that she can choose the house, but it MUST have an extra large shop for me to work out of and have my man cave in:)
Rose,
Thank you so very much!! And thank you for the love and for taking time to stop in. I always appreciate you!!
I'm just amazed at that photo of your place Scott . Ok how long does it take to stack that outside .And what do you do if the weather suddenly changes to rain?Yes you do need a bigger place with all that out front. Obviously the wife needs to take control.

before she sends you packing.Get hold of yourself man.
Drill----;-D that picture (.49) is so funny, unbelievable, Scott this is a premonition, be careful , HA,,,,, BANG
Regards
Alan
Actually T-man might be in the same boat Scott, if you two ever get kicked out you could share a room?

Just kidding pal, when you finally do move. Try not to have it look like this,,,,
http://www.la-malle-en-coin.com/images/stories/blog/photo_ancienne_/leaving-with-luggage.jpg
Alan,
Yep, it could be a premonition for sure:) I do keep them thinned out by selling off trunks throughout the year. I move the biggest part of them throughout the Christmas season by folks buying them for gifts.
Drill,
That's really too funny!! As I told Alan, I do a fair job of keeping them thinned out throughout the year. I only keep the unusual and the hard to find trunks (the French trunks aren't for sale). The rest get sold, mostly during the Christmas season.
Drill,
I only have one trunk, that I've been working on for the past few weeks, in my shop right now. An Irish made round top wicker trunk. Should be finished within the next week or so, (quite a bit of re-stitching and leather repair was required on it). But, that's pretty much it for this year.
Can't wait to see it pal,I'm sure it will be wonderful. That type of work is incredibly
hard to do on that particular style of trunk.Wicker trunks are truly unappreciated,
many have not survived the trials of time.In my trunk surfing travels on the net ,I have come across many older pictures of trunks. It is fun to share with others and
make them smile.I mean no harm,we all need to giggle at our affliction and appreciate their history.
Having said that, these guys are tired of carting your stuff around, they just want to know what room in the hotel ,are they supposed to put it in when your better half throws you out.

Drill,
LOL!!!! After a very trying morning at work, those definitely made me smile (laughing is more like it). Thanks friend for the fun pics and your awesome comments!! Always welcomed and VERY much appreciated!!!
Very nice collection! OMG, I saw a hat and a hat box in person for the first time this week and immediately thought of you! It looked to be in very good condition. If I make it back out there by next Friday when the auction ends, I'll get a photo for you, if they let me... It was a very different top hat than I've ever seen, maybe because it was much older ??? The edges on the brim and at the top of the hat sort of flipped upwards to some extent. It was a beauty!
LOL!!! I just saw the comments from Drill! He's on the money!
shareurpassion,
So good to hear from you!! Thanks so very much for the wonderful comment. I'd love to see the hat and hat box. Love those things!!!
