      It kinda weird with the Agents thing on it. Maybe the i.d plaque off a large industrial scale?

      I believe it is off a bridge crane.

      If the provenance was described as 'Railway sign' to you, then I'm swaying over to railcar spec tag. 20 tons isn't very much and todays railcars can carry 125 tons. But in the 40's& 50's , they could only carry 74 tons, and going back further, much less I'd imagine.

      I have seen bridge signs like this. I actually have a small porcelain sign that says Weight Limit 15 tons I hung above my toilet! My guess is from an old steel trussel bridge.
