German Leather & Brass Hat Trunk by Karl Kramer

Hi Folks, Since some are showing their European trunks I thought I'd show one of my German hat trunks. This one is 20" tall by 15" deep and 15.5" wide. It has brass trim and the lock is brass with an iron and brass hasp. There is a brass label on the side which has the maker Karl Kramer of Hannover, in northern Germany, maker of trunks and leather goods (in German). The inside has a felt-like soft lining and no tray. The leather covering is in good condition and the original sliding leather handles are still present. The lock is marked with a horseshoe design with an "S" in it, and also "Kramer, Hannover". I'm not sure which company actually made the lock, but expect it was another company that put the Kramer name on it for the trunk maker. I expect the initials on top are of the original owner. People often had several trunks when they traveled back when these were used, so sometimes you'll see numbers on them too. Some people had separate trunks for their hats, dresses or suits, and even shoes and umbrellas sometimes. Thanks for taking a look!
